How sweet is this?

Laura over at Readbtwnthelines featured Textual Healing on her Friday “Book Blog Hop.” I love these sort of things.

I’m currently reading Textual Healing by Eric Smith. I received this book from the author for review and so far I’m really enjoying it! I don’t read a lot of adult contemporary fiction, but thus far this book has proved to be very entertaining and hilarious!

Thank you Laura!

Review: Intellectual Promiscuity

Erin over at Intellectual Promiscuity posted her review of Textual Healing, dishing out 4/5 stars.

Smith’s story is basic enough – guy gets dumped, guy meets mysterious and lovely new lady, lady is attacked by flower store ninja, guy buys exotic pet to impress lady, which subsequently destroys his apartment – ok, so maybe the story is not so basic.  Part of what makes Smith’s book so engaging is this coupling of the ordinary with the not-so-ordinary.  These touches are sprinkled throughout the book, and for the reader, really make for an enjoyable reading experience, as well as a lot of laugh out loud moments.

Review: Daemon’s Books

Book reviewer Muffy Morrigan gave Textual Healing a nice 3 out of 5 stars on Daemon’s Books.

“Textual Healing has the feeling of an indie film, one of those feel-good small budget films like Ten Inch Hero, full of interesting characters, almost real-life situations and a sweetly romantic comedy.”

Review: Temporary Worlds Book Review

January 10th, 2011 § 0 comments § permalink

Temporary Worlds, a book blog, gave Textual Healing four out of five stars. Yay!

I love how Smith plays with rom-com stereotypes, putting his own spin on the genre. I found Andrew, despite his hapless nature, to be a likeable lead. I enjoyed the colorful cast of side characters, especially the ninja from across the street, and the two college students that work at Andrew’s bookstore…

Textual Healing was a very fun read. Smith’s first novel shows that he has a good hand for crafting likable characters, great comedy, and a pleasant romance…

Thanks for the kind words and helpful constructive criticism, Temporary Worlds! Appreciated.

Review: Brook Side Reviews

There’s a lovely review up on Brook Side Reviews.

Imagine me cooking breakfast, pausing every few minutes to grab this book and read what happens next. Yes, that’s exactly what I did. I read the entire book in less than a day.

When I say that it takes a special kind of book to make me genuinely laugh while reading, I mean it.

Within the first few pages, I found myself grinning like an idiot as I continued the story. I knew from the beginning that this author had managed to peg my sense of humor… it’s an incredibly entertaining, modern love story.

Review: Philadelphia Citypaper

Wow. Unbelievably flattered by the fantastic review in Philadelphia’s Citypaper.

Fans of Annie Hall and Crossing Delancey will love the smartly smarmy New York state of mind, while indie kids will dig Smith’s characters — like the gun-loving children’s book author and the floral arranger/ninja. Very cinematic, this.

Thank you so much, A.D. Amorosi. This one is going on the fridge. And getting blurbed in the reprint.

Megan Smith, who blogs over on Examiner.com covering public relations, wrote about the quirky way I released Textual Healing.

I don’t impress very easy. I’ve heard tales of scaling Mt. Everest, skydiving into the desert, backpacking across Europe, and venturing into areas of Baltimore, MD without personal security and 911 on speed dial. Not impressed.

But when I heard that blogger, noted academic, social media exec, and overall good guy Eric Smith had written a book, I was beyond impressed. Because while I am very much convinced that anyone can scale a mountain (I mean really, how hard can it be?), I don’t believe just anyone can sit down and craft a 280 page novel. And that’s what we have with Smith’s Textual Healing.

Thanks for the kind words, Megan!
